Every Witch Needs A Coven

Every Witch Needs A Coven

A coven is more than a gathering—it is an intentional investment into one’s spiritual evolution, identity, and long-term path. Joining one is a decision that should be made thoughtfully, because the energy, practices, and leadership within a coven can either elevate your growth or restrict it. Historically, covens and spiritual houses served as catalysts for transformation, offering structure, mentorship, and ritual immersion. They were seen as the ultimate stage in a practitioner’s journey, often marking the moment when latent gifts awakened and ancestral birthrights became accessible. Even today, the choice to align with a coven still carries that weight: it is not simply about belonging, but about who you are becoming.

My own introduction into a secret society was nothing like the romanticized stories or cinematic portrayals. The lessons arrived wrapped in discomfort, surprise, and revelations I did not anticipate. But spiritual paths rarely unfold in neat, predictable ways. Sometimes we are initiated into truth through experiences that challenge us, force us to confront our shadows, or expose dynamics we would have preferred not to see. What felt confusing at the time eventually revealed itself as necessary—an initiation into discernment, spiritual sovereignty, and self-trust.

As the years passed, I gained clarity that I did not have the maturity or perspective to hold in the moment. Time can be its own teacher, gently unfolding meanings that were previously hidden. I learned which connections nourished me and which ones drained me. I learned that not all spiritual authority is rooted in integrity, and not all community is built on reciprocity. And yet, even with the uncomfortable lessons, I discovered treasures tucked inside the experience that shaped me in powerful ways.

One of the greatest gifts that emerged from my time in that spiritual house was the relationships I formed. I met women whose stories mirrored my own in ways that made me feel seen. We supported one another through breakthroughs, questions, and initiations—spiritual, emotional, and personal. These bonds allowed me to explore new dimensions of myself without fear of judgment, and that sense of belonging became a foundational part of my path. Even if the organization itself wasn’t what I expected, the sisterhood I found within it was invaluable. I discuss my experiences more inside of my book, The Roots That Ground Us Vol. 1.

Coming from a religious background, I carried years of conditioning, fear, and spiritual guilt. Entering a coven-like environment cracked open the restrictions I had quietly lived under and invited me to step into autonomy. There was so much to unlearn, so much to reclaim. I had to rebuild my understanding of divinity, power, and spiritual authority. Having a community that understood the transition—from doctrine to discovery—gave me the support I didn’t know I needed. It was liberating to be surrounded by women who had walked similar paths and were eager to grow alongside me.

Spirits, too, are woven into the fabric of secret societies, covens, and spiritual houses—whether openly acknowledged or quietly influencing the structure. Every lineage, every tradition, and every house carries its own spiritual ecosystem. Ancestors, guides, guardians, and sometimes even egregoric spirits become intertwined with the group over time, feeding on its rituals, its members, and its collective energy. When you join a coven, you are not simply joining people—you are entering into an existing spiritual contract, stepping into a current that was moving long before you arrived. Some houses are uplifted by benevolent, ancestral forces that guide the work with wisdom and protection. Others hold spirits that were never properly tended, spirits born from ego, manipulation, or unresolved trauma within the group. This is why discernment is essential: when you align with a spiritual house, you align with its spirits, its history, and its energetic debts. Understanding this can be the difference between spiritual expansion and spiritual entanglement.

This is also why the Moonstone Energy Coven was created with an entirely different philosophy—one rooted in sovereignty, clarity, and clean spiritual architecture. In this coven, the only spirits present are the ones you bring with you: your ancestors, your guides, your higher self, and the spiritual support that belongs uniquely to your lineage. This creates a pure environment for awakening, one where your gifts can activate without interference and your consciousness can expand without energetic distortion. The Moonstone Energy Coven is an online coven, not a house you submit to—it is a sanctuary that supports the rise of your own inner power.

My hope is that readers can approach their own spiritual commitments with clarity, courage, and discernment. A coven can be a blessing or a burden, a sanctuary or a snare—what makes the difference is understanding who you are before you enter, and who you are willing to become once you’ve crossed the threshold.
